Alice, Texas Petra Anguiano Hernandez, 86 years old, a long time resident of Blue Island, Illinois, died Sunday, February 24, 2019 at home. Petra was born in 1932 in Alice, Texas. Petra was a nurse and a housewife. Petra was the child of late Agustin and Petra Anguiano. She was also a loving sister to her late brothers and sisters Edwardo Anguiano (Rebecca), Antonio Anguiano (Maria), Celestino Anguiano (Maria), Jose Anguiano, Roberto Anguiano (Angelina), Agustin Anguiano (Fela), Maria Mendoza (Andres), Ricardo Anguiano, Eva Bowen (Clyde). She is survived by her daughter, Penny Gonzalez (Andrew) and her sons Peter Hernandez, Paul Hernandez, and Perry Hernandez. She had three grandchildren Jennifer Gonzalez, Alyssa Gonzalez, and Taylor Gonzalez. Petra was a loving sister to Maria Barrientez (Jesse Barrientez). Petra was a loving mother, wife, sister, and grandmother to those around her. She was a religious woman with only kindness to spread amongst others. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones. Maria (Nena) Del Socorro Farias passed away peacefully, February 16, 2019 at Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born October 24, 1924 in Kingsville, Texas to Manuel A. Garza and Eulalia Farias, raised by grandparents, Andres Farias and Favia Olivarez. Maria attended and graduated from Incarnate Word boarding school in Corpus Christi and was a graduate of University of Texas with a degree in Education. She first taught in Benavides, Texas at the Santa Rosa de Lima School in 1951-55. Afterwards, she taught with the Department of Education for over 40 years in South America, Asia, and in Europe, specifically Spain. Maria Del Socorro was well traveled and fondly remembered all the details of each travel experience. She was very proud of her education and kept a sharp mind until years past her retirement. Upon her retirement as an educator, she resided in Benavides, Texas, her hometown, and continued to travel with many of her friends. She was devoted to the Catholic Church and was a Catholic Daughter of America. She loved the arts and opera. She proudly displayed her art and collectables of her many travels. She expected punctuality and respect from all as she practiced this with others. She was active in aerobics, politics, social with many friends, and loved her pets deeply. Marty came to San Diego in 1958 after having served his country during the Korean War. After his arrival in San Diego, he taught and coached at Memorial Middle School in Alice for three years.The following year he continued his teaching and coaching career at the San Diego Junior High school. In 1991 he retired from San Diego ISD after 37 years of combined military and teaching services. Between the years 1958 and 1975 he was very successful in horse training and horse racing.
