Marty Pizzini, 88, was born on Nov. 1, 1930 to Antonia Rubio Pizzini and Frank Pizzini II. He was raised in San Antonio and attended Little Flower Primary/Elementary School and Moye Military Academy in Castroville, Texas, Central Catholic High School in San Antonio, Sul Ross State College in Alpine and Del Mar Police Academy.
Marty came to San Diego in 1958 after having served his country during the Korean War.
After his arrival in San Diego, he taught and coached at Memorial Middle School in Alice for three years.The following year he continued his teaching and coaching career at the San Diego Junior High school.
In 1991 he retired from San Diego ISD after 37 years of combined military and teaching services. Between the years 1958 and 1975 he was very successful in horse training and horse racing. He also worked for the Duval County Sheriff Department from 1991 to 2001. Marty is preceded in death by his parents Antonia Rubio Pizzini and Frank Pizzini II, one brother Frank Pizzini III.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Aurora F. Pizzini, his children Johanna(David) Canales, Luis(Gracie) Pizzini and Angelica(Vale) Valdez. Four grandchildren, Christine and Zachary  ( Pate) Pizzini, Edward Canales and AnnDrea Valdez and one great grandchild, Zachary Edmund Pizzini, numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Feb 4, 2019 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Garcia Cemetery at La Esperanza Ranch in Duval County, Texas.  Military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Burial Association of Alice, Texas.  Mauro P. My condolences to the family of Mr. Pizzini! May he Rest in eternal peace.
I have fun memories of him as my teacher! Always a man with a “get it done” attitude.
