Maria M. Serna, 83 years of age, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 23, 1942, to Isabel Mendoza and Maria Sanchez.

Maria was a devoted homemaker throughout her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed cooking for her family and creating special memories with those she loved. Maria was a woman of faith who prayed her Rosary and read her Bible daily. The unconditional love she had for her grandchildren was truly special, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ruben Serna; and her cousin, Elisa Pereida.
Survivors include her son, Ruben (Belinda) Serna Jr.; daughter, Elisa (Eric) Wendt; brother, Francisco Israel Mendoza Sr.; grandchildren, Meredith (Matthew) Christensen and Ruben (Iveth) Serna III; and her great-granddaughter, Sage Lynn, many nieces, and nephews she absolutely loved.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Mauro P. Garcia Chapel- Alice with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Mauro P. Garcia Chapel- Alice. Burial will follow at New Collins Cemetery.

Rene’ L. Amaya passed away peacefully at the age of 74 on June 11, 2026. He is reunited in heaven with the love of his life and wife of 29 years, JoAnn Marie Amaya, who preceded him in eternal rest in August of 2024. He was a dedicated federal law enforcement officer, a proud Texas Longhorn, and cherished family man. He leaves behind a distinguished legacy of dedicated service to his country and love for his family.

Born on June 4, 1952, Rene’ grew up with in San Diego, Texas. He was a gifted student and athlete. His academic and athletic drive took him to the University of Texas at Austin, where he proudly wore the burnt orange as a scholarship football player for the Texas Longhorns. His passion for the game never faded; he remained a lifelong, die-hard fan of both the Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys.

After graduating from the University of Texas, Rene’ embarked on a distinguished career as an FBI Special Agent that spanned nearly 30 years. With unwavering dedication, Rene’ protected and served communities across the United States, with assignments taking him to Puerto Rico, San Francisco, Newark (NJ), and eventually to his home of Corpus Christi. He approached his work with the utmost professionalism and honor, earning the deep respect of his fellow agents, and the prosecutors and judges with whom he worked.

In his well-deserved retirement, Rene’ prioritized his daily exercise, loved tinkering around the house fixing anything that needed care, and thoroughly enjoyed unwinding with his favorite television shows. He was an avid poker player, loved to barbeque, and cherished his family.

Rene’s presence brought comfort, safety, and joy to those who truly knew him. He was a pillar for his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, his FBI fraternity, and the South Texas communities he proudly called home.

Rene’ is survived by his sons, Rolando Amaya (Nicole) and Michael McAvoy-Amaya (Betty); his stepdaughters, April Nolan and Crystal Nolan; and his siblings, Becky Oliveira (David) and Rudy Amaya (Laleh). He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Kendra (Drew), Eliana, Brice, Layden, Lance, Alisa; and a great-grandfather to Harper and Alexia. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, former colleagues, and lifelong friends.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, JoAnn; his parents, Ramon and Rebecca Amaya; his brother, Ramon Amaya; and his beloved Tios and Tias, Pedro Luna (Evelyn), Torcuato Luna (Connie), and Esperanza Gonzalez (Pete), and nephew Daniel Oliveira

Guadalupe “Lupita” Molina, a faithful servant of God, devoted Catholic, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered into eternal rest at the age of 81 on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, surrounded by love and the promise of eternal life.

Lupita was born June 28, 1944, in San Diego, Texas to Daniel Pena Lopez and Natalia Saenz Lopez. Lupita was a 1961 graduate of San Diego High School then attended South Texas Commercial College. Upon completion of her coursework, she would embark on a 35-year career as a legal secretary working for several prominent law firms of Alice, Tx. On June 21, 1964, Lupita married her high school sweetheart and the true love of her life, Tomas Joel Molina. Their sacred bond of love would hold true for 52 years; setting forth an exemplary commitment for their three sons. In 1996 she and her husband became owners of San Diego Auto Supply. Lupita also worked at the San Diego TDCJ Ernestine Glossbrenner Unit as a records clerk where she later retired.

Lupita was the epitome of a true matriarch, loving unconditionally and always putting her family first. She lived a life devoted to her beloved husband and family – leaving behind a legacy of love, honor and unwavering faith. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with the Lord she faithfully served and her beloved “Tome”.

Lupita was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Sr. and Natalia Saenz Lopez; her husband, Tomas Joel Molina Sr.; and siblings, Daniel S. Lopez Jr. and Mirta (Isidro) Trevino.

Lupita is survived by her three loving sons, Tomas Joel (Danette) Molina Jr.; Robert Ray (Mari) Molina and Mauricio “Morris” Daniel (Margo) Molina. Rolando Soulas, 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Alice, Texas, on May 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
 
A lifelong resident of Alice, Rolando was a proud graduate of Alice High School. He dedicated much of his life to caring for others through his work with several home health agencies. Known for his compassionate nature and generous spirit, Rolando was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He never hesitated to help others and was admired for his kind heart and selfless dedication to those he cared for.
 
Rolando's patients and clients looked forward to his visits, not only because of the care he provided, but because of the genuine concern and friendship he shared with them. He often went above and beyond his duties to ensure others were comfortable, cared for, and never felt alone. He was especially devoted to his family, lovingly caring for his mother and taking her on drives around town so she could enjoy the sights and spend quality time with him.
 
Those who knew Rolando will remember him as a quiet and shy man with a memorable laugh and a gentle soul. He was patient and kind, always willing to share his knowledge with others. He taught his sisters how to cook many different foods and patiently helped one of them learn to drive outside of town. His sweet nature, patience, and caring heart touched the lives of many.
 
Rolando was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Jose Soulas and Marta Soulas; his brothers, Luis Soulas, Hector Soulas, and Rudy Soulas; his sister, Esperanza Sandoval; and his brother-in-law, Jacinto Rodriguez III.
 
He is survived by his siblings: Juan Jose and Lupita Soulas; Velma and Agustin Rivera; Norma and Pioquinto Alaniz; Sylvia and Juan Perez; Irma Rodriguez; and Lisa and Ramon DeLeon. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory forever.

Rolando's kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and community will never be forgotten. His legacy of compassion and service will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

​​Pedro Peña, Jr., 85 years of age, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026. He was born on July 23, 1940, to Pedro Peña, Sr. and Genoveva Moreno Peña.

Pedro worked for General Motors in California then was self-employed as a backhoe operator and later worked for VMW Equipment Company in Texas. In his pastime, he loved racehorses, ranching, and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attended services at Emanuel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Peña, Sr. and Genoveva Moreno Peña; his first wife, Maria Irene Peña; his grandchildren, Pedro “Peter” Peña IV and Oscar Gabriel “O.G.” Peña; and several brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Emma P. Peña; three sons, Javier (Melissa) Peña, Pedro (Rebecca) Peña III, and Oscar Peña; his extended family, Hector Anguiano and Linda Garcia (Eli); his sister, Gumecinda (Guadalupe) Martinez; and six grandchildren, Javier Peña, Alyssa Marie (Rafael) Garcia, Dianna Marie Peña, Elizabeth Ann Peña, Joel Gonzalez, and Joe Michael Gonzalez (Anna Valdez).

San Diego - Eluterio M. “Mickie” Barrera III passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at a local nursing home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mickie worked as a waiter in the Rio Grande Valley and at the Alice Country Club. He also worked at McDonald's. Mickie will be dearly missed by his family and his many friends from the Civic Center, whose lives he touched throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Teofila Garza; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eluterio and Aurora Barrera Sr.; and his father, Eluterio Barrera Jr.

He is survived by his loving mother, Amelia G. Salinas; his brothers and sisters; Patricia B. Barrera, Gilbert B. Barrera, Emilia Davila, Abel Ybarra, Ismael Ybarra, Isabel Rodriguez, Gracie (Roger) Cavazos, Albert Ybarra, David Ybarra and Flor Ybarra. His stepmom Guadalupe Barrera, numerous cousins, Olga (Oscar) Garza, Celina (Amado) Trevino, Irma (Bill) Pinkley, Alicia (Alvaro) Hinojosa, Carlos (Alma) Garza, Gloria (Vic) Canales, Ricardo (Ginger) Garza, Ruben Garza, Evelina Garza, and Elsa Garza; and his close friend, Johanna Laso, numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.
