Mirta L. Trevino was 91 years old, passed away Monday, July 10, 2023. She was born at Guajillo Ranch on June 22, 1932. She was the oldest of 6 children, struggled with her vision since birth and attended school up to the 6th grade. She held several jobs working alongside a pharmacist at Dr. De Hoyos Pharmacy and Clinic, the local cleaners and loved to work at El Nuevo Mundo Department Store. She was a devoted wife and mom. She was a strong woman. She was widowed two times but was strong enough to raise her children on her own and provide for them. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. Her interests consisted of crocheting, dancing, and listening to Spanish music. She never passed up an opportunity to sing or dance at any family functions. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel P. Lopez and Natalia Saenz Lopez, her husband, Isidoro Trevino, one son, Encarnacion “Chonito” Vega, and one brother, Daniel S. Lopez. Survivors include, son, Ruben Rene (Rachel) Vega, daughter, Connie (Adrian) Garza, brothers, Ricardo (America) Lopez, Ruben (Estela) Lopez, and David (Esmeralda) Lopez, sister, Lupita (†Tomas) Molina, sister-in-law, Maria Hilda Lopez, eight grandchildren, Amanda Nicole, Rachel Marie, Ruben Jr., Natasha, Amber, Ava, Adrian Jr., and Andres. San Diego, Tx – Maria H. “Minnie” Montemayor 87 years of age passed away on Tuesday July 4, 2023. She was born on a snowy day in the community of Santo Nino on January 1, 1936, to Juan D. Lopez and Guadalupe Lopez. She grew up in the community of San Jose, Tx and attended school in San Diego, Tx where she graduated in 1953. Minnie then moved to Corpus Christi after graduation where she attended secretarial school, after which she worked for Dr. Hector P. Garcia. Minnie returned to San Diego and married the love of her life Carlos J. Montemayor on August 25, 1957. Together they raised three children, had seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Minnie worked for the SDISD for over 25 years as a secretary for the special education department. She retired in June of 1997. Minnie was an excellent baker, could sew a beautiful dress, was a voracious reader, and enjoyed a good trip to the casino every now and then. She was a proud catholic daughter, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is proceeded in death by her husband of 66 years Carlos J. Montemayor, her parents; Juan D. Lopez and Guadalupe Lopez, and her daughter Anna Liza Waldrop. She is survived by her children Carlos R. Montemayor of San Diego, Tx, and Arnoldo “Arnie” (Tina) Montemayor of Austin, Tx, two brothers; Arnoldo “Nono” (Ruth) Lopez of Chicago, Juan D. “Sonney” (Cynthia) Lopez of College Station, Tx, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thank you to her caretaker Martha Flores for all the love and kindness she showed the last three years to Chale and Minnie. Weddy spent his life working hard in the oilfield to provide for his loved family. He always had funny stories to share and that gave him an incredible ability to make friends with anyone. He had a wonderful ability to make anyone laugh and share his wonderful smile. He enjoyed watching old John Wayne country-western movies, cooking a wonderful breakfast for his kids on a Saturday morning with random ingredients, and having a beer with his friends and family. He loved working with his hands and enjoyed spending time outdoors fiddling with everything. Weddy worked hard to help anyone in need in whatever way he could, including giving his humble shirt off his back. Servando often stated his children were what he was the proudest of in his life, and he demonstrated an unconditional love to them. Weddy thanks everyone who was a part of his life for a moment, for a period, or for his lifetime.

Matias was a Structural Inspector for Western Steel Company, was also a foreman for Perry Fabrications of Corpus Christi, and a steel layout supervisor for Derreck Manufacturing Company of Alice. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army and served in the Texas National Guard from 1962-1965. He is preceded in death by his parents Theodor Rosales and Eulalia Silva, and his wife Maria Alicia Rosales. García passed away at the age of 96 on June 13, 2023, in Corpus Christi, Tx. She was born on May 7, 1927, in Santa Cruz Ranch, TX, and lived in San Diego, Texas.
She is preceded in death by parents Vidal and Crecenciana García, sisters and brothers-in-law Teresa Trigo (Jorge), Nena Solis (Enrique), and Baldemar García. She is survived by brothers Vidal (Esmy) and Jesus María (Irene) García; sisters Christina García and Tomacita (Jose) Olivares. María did not have children of her own but had immeasurable love and affection for her 30 nieces and nephews, and her numerous great nieces and nephews, and great-great nephews and nieces. In earlier years she worked at M.E. Moses store in San Diego, Texas. She later moved to Corpus Christi and was a dedicated employee in the clothing department of downtown F.W. Woolworth for 34 years. After her retirement, she enjoyed creating floral arrangements, centerpieces, ornaments, and other exquisite arts and crafts designs. Her creations will be treasured by her family forever. “Tía María” also always enthusiastically stepped in to care for many of her nieces and nephews whenever she was needed. Her nieces and nephews fondly remember her for her vintage red Chevy Nova, her thoughtful gifts, her sweet supply of candy and gum, her hearty hugs, and her beautiful laugh. The family extends a special thanks to her friend Tina Tovar for her kindhearted visits and to former provider Nora Hernández. The family is also appreciative of the dedicated nurses and staff at Corpus Christi Nursing and Rehabilitation who helped care for her for the past 2 years; and Gracia Hospice who provided excellent and compassionate care in her final journey. San Diego, Texas Esperanza Torres “ Wela Hope” 85 years of age gained her wings into eternal life on June 14, 2023, at 3:13 a.m. surrounded by her family. She was a 1954 graduate, an outstanding and smart student at San Diego High School. She had various bookkeeping positions with oilfield companies and managed their accounting needs for many years. Needless to say, that was her calling. She later opened E & R Grocery and Torres Tax Service in San Diego, Texas. She also served on the SDISD School Board. After the death of her first husband Ricardo, she moved to Richardson Texas, and established Torres Tax Service in Garland, Texas. The business is still in operation and is supervised by her hard-working, dedicated employees, Oralia, Tati, Karina, and Elizabeth. Her second husband Juan passed away on March 7, 2023. She battled breast cancer and thyroid cancer for over 25 years, never stopped fighting, and never gave up. Her precious heart couldn’t fight anymore, and God called her home.
She is preceded in death by her Mother Consuelo “MaChelo” Hancock, her father Jose “PaCoque” Hancock, Husbands Ricardo, and Juan. Surviving are her children Roy (Celeste) Creager, JoAnn Mendoza, and Betty Lou Garcia (Pat Rogers, Jr.) Her adopted son Ricardo Jose Torres, and an adoptive daughter Vanessa Torres. Tomas is preceded in death by grandparents Amando and Elizabeth Canales, Tomas H. and Juanita Molina; cousin Oswaldo D. Rincon III. Tomas was born to Tomas and Veronica in Houston, Texas on September 21, 1966. He graduated from San Diego High School in 1985 and from University of Texas San Antonio in 1996 with a BA in History. Tomas was a kindhearted, gentle soul who loved his family, friends, and Dallas Cowboys. Tomas enjoyed living in San Antonio where he was able to attend concerts and football games. Tomas was known for his generosity, great sense of humor, and passion for music. Tomas lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as spending time with family and friends.
