San Diego, Texas Esperanza Torres “ Wela Hope”  85 years of age gained her wings into eternal life on June 14, 2023, at 3:13 a.m. surrounded by her family.  She was a 1954 graduate, an outstanding and smart student at San Diego High School. She had various bookkeeping positions with oilfield companies and managed their accounting needs for many years. Needless to say, that was her calling. She later opened E & R Grocery and Torres Tax Service in San Diego, Texas. She also served on the SDISD School Board. After the death of her first husband Ricardo, she moved to Richardson Texas, and established Torres Tax Service in Garland, Texas. The business is still in operation and is supervised by her hard-working, dedicated employees, Oralia, Tati, Karina, and Elizabeth. Her second husband Juan passed away on March 7, 2023.  She battled breast cancer and thyroid cancer for over 25 years, never stopped fighting, and never gave up. Her precious heart couldn’t fight anymore, and God called her home.
She is preceded in death by her Mother Consuelo “MaChelo” Hancock, her father Jose “PaCoque” Hancock, Husbands Ricardo, and Juan.

Surviving are her children Roy (Celeste) Creager, JoAnn Mendoza, and Betty Lou Garcia (Pat Rogers, Jr.) Her adopted son Ricardo Jose Torres, and an adoptive daughter Vanessa Torres.  Her sister Ruth (Carlos) Salinas, Her caregivers: Maricela Sanchez and Martin Gonzalez, and office staff Oralia, Tati, Karina, and Elizabeth. Her grandchildren, Edith (J.R.) Trevino, Norma (Alfred) Soliz, Margo (Morris) Molina, Michael (Venessa) Garcia, Melissa (Joe) Elliott, Ruben (Kalen) Perez, Felicia (Rene) Gonzalez, Morgan (Kort) Marley, Mason (Maegan) Creager, Angie & Tori Villarreal; nephews Michael (Shelly) Salinas, Adrian Salinas, numerous great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren, great nieces, and nephew.

Tomas Amando Molina, beloved son, brother and uncle, died peacefully in San Antonio, Texas on March 23, 2023.
 
Tomas is survived by his parents, Tomas F. and Veronica C. Molina; his brother Andres F. (Maria) Molina, and sister, Rebecca M. (Juan) Olaguibel; nieces and nephews Andrea Molina, Tomas J. (Keri) Molina, Mateo Molina, Oliver Molina, Marlowe Molina, John (April) McCormack, Juan Olaguibel, Carlos Olaguibel, and Diana Lynn McCormack. 
 
Tomas is preceded in death by grandparents Amando and Elizabeth Canales, Tomas H. and Juanita Molina; cousin Oswaldo D. Rincon III.
 
Tomas was born to Tomas and Veronica in Houston, Texas on September 21, 1966.  He graduated from San Diego High School in 1985 and from University of Texas San Antonio in 1996 with a BA in History.  Tomas was a kindhearted, gentle soul who loved his family, friends, and Dallas Cowboys.  Tomas enjoyed living in San Antonio where he was able to attend concerts and football games.  Tomas was known for his generosity, great sense of humor, and passion for music.  Tomas lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as spending time with family and friends.
 
Memorial service to be held on Friday, June 16th at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church. Visitation begins at 12pm, service at 1:30 pm, reception following at St. Dominic’s Church Hall.

San Diego, Texas – Alexander Ray Guerra, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

He was born on March 23, 2005, to Crystal Garza and Mario Guerra Jr. in Alice, Texas.
Alex was a graduate of the class of 2023. He was known to his friends as “Burger.” He was a sweet loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. The love he had for his mom and family was like no other, and he loved his friends just as much. He loved hanging out with his 15 homies (friends), always making little moments into big memorable ones. He will always be remembered for his big, kind, loving heart.

Alex is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Mario Guerra Sr., paternal great-grandmother Elvira Sanchez, aunt Leslie Silva Guerra, his maternal great-grandparents Gilberto and Rebecca Garza, Margarito, and Consuelo Maldonado Sr.

​San Diego, Texas ~  Elia J. Espinosa, 85 years old passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023. Elia was a homemaker, and caretaker of many children in San Diego for many years. She was an excellent cook, who enjoyed music, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a loving wife mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicolas Jaurez and Mercedes Jimenez Juarez, her husband, Jesus Barron Espinosa, two sons, Salome J. Espinosa, and Juan J. Espinosa, one brother Silverio Juarez Sr., four sisters, Maria Gaitan, Olga Perez, Luz Salinas, and Minerva Martinez.

She is survived by her four sons, Jesus J. (Zulema) Espinosa, Carlos J. (Sylvia Ann) Espinosa, Jimmy J. Espinosa, and Luis Antonio J. (Ida) Espinosa, one daughter, Sylvia Marie Espinosa, one brother, Antonio (Estella) Juarez, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

​Alice, Texas ~ Maria “Espi” Moreida, went to the lord on May 11, 2023, at the age of 66. She was born on September 10, 1956, in Alice, Texas. Maria loved spending time with family and friends, she loved attending First Class adult day care center, she enjoyed playing chalupa, gambling at the casinos, and gardening. Maria was a loving wife mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Juan Moreida, her parents Cipriano and Maria Garcia, sister Angelita Chavarria, brother Joe Garcia.

She is survived by her two daughters Melissa (Ernie) Moreida Diaz, Yvette Moreida, two sons Noe (Dena) Moreida, Johnny Joe Moreida, one stepson Joel Ramirez, three sisters Dalia Garcia, Thelma Burch, and Lupita Garcia, one brother Mario Garcia, twenty-one grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 loveable pet grandbabies, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Florentino L. Rivera Sr. 79 years of age passed away on April 19, 2023, after a short illness in a San Antonio Hospital with his loving wife of 44 years Esperanza N. Rivera by his side. Florentino was a loving Father, Husband, Brother, Uncle, and Grandfather. Florentino was a part of the Texas National Guard in 1964 stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana. Florentino also worked for the city of Alice for over 25 years as a Director of Public works. He processed to work with JWC PCT 1. 1993-2000 then from 2000-2014 as JWC Safety Inspector. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus as he and his family went to church at Saint Joseph Catholic Church for many years.  He is proceeded in death by his parents; Eduviges Rivera and Carolina River, sister; Isabel Rios, Brother; Manuel Rivera, children; Florentino Rivera, Jr., and Alfonso Ruiz, and grandchildren; Daisy Rivera, and Amanda Ruiz.  He is survived by sisters; Maria (Ysmael) Olivarez, Mary Rivera, Carolina (Frank) Rivera, Consuelo (Manuel) Escamilla, and Christina (Freddie) Mendietta. San Diego, Texas - Joel Rodriguez, 52 years old, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023, at his residence after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was a graduate of SDISD Class of 1990. Joel was a very hard-working man. He worked as a construction worker and a concrete finisher, he enjoyed hunting at the family ranch in La Rosita community, was an avid Dallas Cowboy Fan, loved doing yard work, and, most of all, spending time with his family and barbecuing for them. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anita Longoria Rodriguez, one son, Joseph Rodriguez, one granddaughter, Mireya Ana Cantu, and one brother, Luis Alberto Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife of 21 years of marriage, Roxanne E. San Diego, TX – Dionicio “Nicho” Arredondo Sr., age 75, passed away peacefully in his residence on May 6, 2023. Nicho was born in San Diego, TX to Leocadio “Cayo” and Delfina Arredondo. He graduated from San Diego High School and then completed his schooling at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, TX.  He enjoyed spending time at the ranch with his cousins, hunting, fishing, and barbequing, but most importantly, he enjoyed gathering with family and friends. 
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leocadio and Delfina Arredondo, sister Clementina DeLeon, In-Laws Rafael & Aida Salinas, and Nephew Rodolfo “Rudy” A. Ibanez, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra S. Arredondo; one sister Edna (Gilbert) Aguilar, one son Nicho Jr (Laura) Arredondo; two daughters: Lori (Eloy) Munoz & Daniela (Mikey) Vidal.
