San Diego, Texas - Teodora "Lolita" Delgado passed away peacefully at the age 80 at a San Diego Nursing Home on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. Lola was born in Santa Elena north of San Isidro, Texas to Pedro Delgado and Leonor Delgado. Ms. Lola graduated from San Diego High School with the Class of 1962. She was always a hard worker and shortly after graduating, she worked at Chris' Pharmacy in town. In the late 60’s, Lola traveled to California and Utah to work as a migrant. She then returned home to care for her parents and siblings and began to work at Hagger Apparel Company in Robstown, Texas for many years before becoming a stay-at-home mom to care for her only son Peter.
Lola earned the name "Mama Lola" by becoming a nanny/babysitter to numerous children for many years and developed a special motherlike relationship with Marco Antonio Campos and J.R. Lopez whom she'd tell everyone she raised them as her sons and were her pride and joy. She played a key role in raising these children and loved each and every one of them like her own.
In her spare time, Lola loved watching novelas, sports, and doing yard work. Anyone that knew Lola knew she had a green thumb. Lola loved her plants and would often be seen with a garden hoe taking out weeds and stickers throughout her lawn.
Most of all, Lola was a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother. She was a caregiver to her siblings Armando and Sara Delgado after her parents passed away.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Pedro B. Delgado, and Leonor Ramirez Delgado. Three brothers Jose Delgado, Armando Delgado, and Norberto Delgado, and one sister, Evangelina Struck.
