Alice Texas-Samuel Richard Duran 75 years of age passed away on April 3, 2021 in a Corpus Christi Hospital. He was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era and a purple heart recipient. He was retired, enjoyed watching western movies and was an avid reader. He is preceded in death by his parents Rudolph Duran, Carmen Gutierrez, and his wife Elodia G. Duran. He is survived by his son John Anthony (Michelle) Duran, two stepsons Harry (Elma) Rivera, Jacob (Sylvia) Rivera, two daughters Lisa Marie Duran, Cynthia Ann Gallardo, three stepdaughters Jo Ann (Robert) Parker, Rebecca Parker, Katherine Colunga, three brothers Gonzalo (Dora) Rodriguez, Trinidad (Renee) Rodriguez, Leroy (Nora) Rodriguez, three sisters Debbie Rodriguez, Maria Carmen (Ralph) Chavez, Siria Angeles, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home of Alice, Texas 600 S. Wright St. with a Rosary to be recited at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church followed by the Funeral Mass. Burial will follow at the Roberson-Collins Cemetery. Military graveside services will be directed by the United Veterans Burial Association of Alice. Due to Covid-19 Pandemic masks will be worn at the Funeral Home, Church and Cemetery.
