Ruben A. Cantu Jr.

​San Diego, Texas - Ruben A. Cantu, Jr., 67 years old, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022, at his daughter's residence after a short illness. He retired from Duval County Pct. # 1 under Duval County commissioner Alejo Garcia for over 37 years. He enjoyed the ranch life and spending time with his grandchildren. Ruben was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben A. Cantu, Sr., and Blanca D. Gonzalez Cantu. He is survived by his three daughters, Rachel (Arnold) Carrillo, Renee (Nathan Serna) Cantu, and Ruby (Andy) Garcia; brother, Rene A. Cantu, and sister, Margot (Kenneth) Prescott, nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin on Friday, December 30, 2022, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home Chapel in San Diego, with a Rosary to be recited at 10 a.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated that same morning at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Paula Catholic church in San Diego. Burial to follow at the Cantu Cemetery at La Rosita Community.  Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc was entrusted with arrangements.
