Corpus Christi, Tx - Rosendo Olvera, 78 years old, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023, in a Corpus Christi hospital surrounded by his loving family. He retired from Koch Refinery after many years. He enjoyed dancing, horses, acting silly, and enjoyed gathering with family, and loved his grandchildren. Rosendo was a devoted Catholic parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, and he was always helping out on fundraisers for the Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosendo and Alicia Barrera Olvera, two brothers, Roberto and Arnoldo Olvera, one sister, Hilda Reyna, and son-in-law, Frank Cantu. He is survived by his loving wife, Alice C. Olvera, and Two sons, Joseph A. (Cynthia) Wilburn and Jim A. (Elizabeth) Sosa; one daughter, Jo Ann Cantu; brother, Ramiro (Lala) Olvera; sister, Emma (Carlos) Vasquez, eighteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews. Visitations will begin on Monday, February 20, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego, located at 1016 E Gravis, San Diego, Texas, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas, located at 401 South Victoria St., San Diego, Texas. Burial will be at the San Diego Cemetery II in San Diego, Texas.
