Alice, Texas - Ricardo B. De Leon, 82 years old passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in a Nursing Home in Alice after a long illness. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army. Ricardo was a retired butcher for Alice Packing Company, Dan's Processing and an oilfield worker. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Anita B. De Leon, two sisters, Ana Belia B. Llosa and Lillie B. De Leon, two brothers, Jose Luis B. De Leon and Alfonso B. De Leon. He is survived by his wife, Celeste L. De Leon, three sons, Ricardo L. (Sylvia) De Leon, Jr., Ramon L. (Lisa) De Leon and Rogelio L. De Leon all of Alice, one daughter, Sandra (Francisco) Palacios of McAllen, two brothers, Noe De Leon of Pasadena and Joel De Leon of Muscatine, Iowa, six sisters, Dolores Vargas of Hondo, Rosa Gonzales of Houston, Dalia Soliz and San Juanita De Leon both of Davenport, Iowa, Maria Elena Marrero of Rock Island, Illinois, Ida Cortes of San Antonio, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitations will begin on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in Alice with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice. Burial will follow at Roberson-Collins Cemetery with military gravesite services conducted by the United Veteran's Burial Association of Alice. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc. entrusted with the arrangements.

I served in the Army with Ricardo. He was one of the strongest men I have ever known. He was a great soldier and friend. He and I celebrated my18th birthday together in a bar in Germany. May he rest in peace.
