Otila Chapa Pena

​Benavides, Texas - Otila Chapa Pena, 80 years old passed Thursday, August 31, 2017 in a San Antonio hospital. She was a graduate of BISD and of Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas. She was retired from the Department of Human Services. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America from Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Benavides and also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Otila was a loving daughter, mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, Atanacio and Susana S. Chapa and her husband, Merardo Pena. She is survived by her son, Merardo Pena of Benavides, one brother, Eliseo A. (Nelda M.) Chapa of McAllen, two granddaughters, Susana Pena of San Antonio, Sara Pena of Victoria and numerous great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. with a Rosary at 2: p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego and burial will follow at the Benavides Cemetery that same day. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc. entrusted with arrangements.
