Alice, Texas - Mary Ann Cardona, 63 years old passed away Wednesday December 20, 2017 at her residence after a long illness. She was a homemaker a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was preceded in death by her parents Melvin John and Maria Ochoa Schumacher and her in-laws Jose and Beatriz Longoria Cardona, two brothers Sammy K. and Frank Schumacher. She is survived by her husband Ruben L. Cardona of Alice, Texas, one son Ruben (Nayhoma) Cardona, Jr. of Orange Grove, Texas, two brothers Melvin (Gloria) Schumacher of Alice, Texas and Jimmy Dean Schumacher of Houston, Texas, one sister Patsy (Oscar) Perez of Corpus Christi, Texas, two grandchildren, TJ (Cady) Kominis of Freer, Texas and Kasandra Kominis of Tyler, Texas, five great-grandchildren, three special nieces Patricia Marie Villegas, Lisa Marie Banda and Nora Lisa Ramirez. Visitation will begin on Tuesday December 26, 2017 at 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in Alice, Texas located at  600 So. Wright Street, Alice, Texas, 361-664-6041 with a Prayer Service at 6 p.m. that same evening with Pastor Manuel Longoria officiating. Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday December 27, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church located at 701 Hickey Street, Alice, Texas. Burial will follow at New Collins Cemetery in Alice, Texas.  Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc. entrusted with arrangements.

Ruben, I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Mary Ann very well, but I remember she was a very nice lady. Unfortunately, I can say I know how you feel, because I lost Carlos last year. I can tell you, it's a very hard thing to get through. I pray that you and your son find peace and comfort in each other and with God's help.
