Maria Teresa Briones

​San Diego - Maria Teresa "Nana" Briones, 74 years old passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021, in an Alice hospital after a long illness. She was a former Teachers Aide for the SDISD, a former employee for Duval County and worked as a Home Health provider. She enjoyed sewing, the outdoor life, playing chalupa, poker, dancing, singing, and spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Preceded in death by her parents, Francisco L. Aleman, Sr. and Berta Ramos Aleman, stepfather, Vicente Cadena, two sisters, Matilde A. Barrera, and Anita A. Gaitan, one brother, Francisco L. "Frank" Aleman Jr., one brother-in-law, Daniel P. Gaitan, one son in law Richard H. Avila, two infant great-grandchildren. Survivors include, two sons, Jorge L. (Jo Ann) Bazan and Gilbert "Talisa" Briones, Jr., raised as a son, Joe Lee (Erika) Briones, four daughters, Cynthia "Cindy" Diaz, Norma Lee (Rolando) Salaiz, Laura (Clarissa Flores) Gonzalez, Louise "Wicha" (Gilbert) Gonzalez, one brother, Luis Rene (Mary J.) Aleman, and one sister-in-law, Kena Aleman, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Serving as active Pallbearers, Rolly Salaiz, Andrew Salaiz, Ariel Salaiz, David Diaz, Joshua Gonzalez, Gilbert Gonzalez Jr., Raul R Diaz Jr. and Joe Lee Briones. Honorary Pallbearers will be Luis Diaz and Grandsons.

Visitation will begin on Monday, June 28, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home- San Diego. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc. entrusted with the arrangements.
