San Diego- Maria Inez Rodriguez, 81, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022. She was born on January 13, 1941, in San Diego, Texas to Antonio and Herminia Vidal Rodriguez. Maria Inez graduated from San Diego High School and furthered her education at Del Mar College to earn her degree in Nursing Administration. She started her career at La Hacienda Nursing Home in San Diego and managed several nursing homes in the surrounding area including facilities in Laredo, Brownsville, Zapata, San Antonio, Del Rio, and Alice. She retired to her home in San Diego, where she became a member of the Catholic Daughters of America with St Francis de Paula Catholic Church. She served her community in various ways from political advocacy to faith ministry. Her life was full of many great friends and mentors such as Dr. Dunlap who was a great influence to her. She is preceded in death by her parents Antonio & Herminia Rodriguez, her two brothers Antonio Rodriguez, Jr., and Romeo “Mighty Mouse” Rodriguez, and her “Nana” Geronima Rodriguez Garcia. Survivors include her brother Ruben Rodriguez (Yolanda); her only niece Liza H Salinas (Rene); and nephews Adrian Lee Rodriguez (Nora), Rodney Rodriguez (Kelly), Steven Rodriguez (Brandi), and Anthony Rodriguez (Jordan) with several great nieces and nephews. Active Pallbearers will be George Garcia Jr., Raymond “Red” Martinez, Rene C Salinas, Jr, Adrian Lee Rodriguez, Jr., Robert Lee Rodriguez, and Cristian Lee Rodriguez. Visitation will begin on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. at Mauro P Garcia Funeral Home Chapel in San Diego. With a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022, at St Francis de Paula Catholic Church in San Diego followed by the Funeral Mass. Burial at the San Diego Cemetery. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc. entrusted with the arrangements.
