Maria Elena Vasquez

​San Diego, Texas - Maria Elena Vasquez, 78 years old passed away Monday, June 7, 2021, in a San Antonio hospital after a short illness. She was a former employee of the Alice Community Action and a convenience store clerk. She loved cooking and spending time with her family and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Salome, and Alicia Ramirez Castanon, one infant child, Josie Castanon and one sister Josie Castanon Molina. She is survived by her three sons, Hector (Juanita) Vasquez, Nick (Angie) Vasquez and Rick Vasquez, three daughters, Rosalinda Luera, Carmen Vasquez, and Celina (JoJo) Perez, one sister, Alicia Salazar, eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will begin on Friday, June 11, 2021, at 8 a.m. - 12: 45 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego. Rosary will be recited on Friday, June 11, 2021, at 1 p.m. at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church and Funeral Mass to follow at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at the San Diego Cemetery.
