Maria Elena Elizondo

​​San Diego- Maria Elena Elizondo, 80 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. She was born on July 15, 1942, in Alice, Texas, to Eliberto and Juanita Robles. Maria Elena served as an active member of the Altar and Rosary Society of San Diego, TX, and the Catholic Daughters of America with St Francis de Paula Catholic Church. She was also a leader in the Charismatic Prayer Group with St Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and making her famous Neiman Marcus cake. She was a talented seamstress and would make her granddaughter's costumes handmade with love every year. Maria Elena is preceded in death by her parents, Eliberto and Juanita Robles, one brother Modesto Robles and four sisters, Enedina Saenz, Elia Cano, Minerva Cavazos, and Maria Luisa Garza. Maria Elena leaves to cherish her memory of her husband of 57 years of marriage. Bernabe “Benny” Elizondo; her two daughters, Melissa (Elliott) Hinojosa and Kassandra Elizondo; one son, Christopher Elizondo; two sisters, Corina Villegas and Elsa Benavides; one brother, Jesse Robles; granddaughters, Marissa Claudia (Charles) Hinojosa-Nesbitt, Mandissa Lorraine (Juan) Hinojosa, Ellissa Janelle (David) Hinojosa, Kiley Perkins, and Annika Jaylee Fink; grandson, Chris Izaak Perkins; great-grandsons, Reggie, Charles (Ace), Jaxson, Matthias, and Ian; great-granddaughter Jaelissa. Visitation will begin from 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego, with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. that same evening. All services will conclude that evening. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc. is entrusted with our services.
