Alice, Tx - Manuel C. Garza, Jr. 79 years of age passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. He was a retired truck driver, a U.S army veteran having served during the Vietnam War in the 2nd Platoon B Company of the Army. He enjoyed, fishing, hunting, western movies, ranching and loved to spend time with his family. He was proceeded in death by his parents: Manuel D. Garza Sr., and Katy Cuellar Garza, five brothers: Melecio C. Garza Sr., Ruben C. Garza, Jesse C. Garza, Ricardo C. Garza, and Noe C. Garza and one sister: Maria Antonia C. Trevino. He is survived by his wife: Prudencia Garza, three daughters: Esmeralda G. (Wally) Perez, Mary Alice (Eddie) Valdez, and Esperanza (Gilbert) Gonzalez, one stepson: Erik R. Martinez, five brothers: Julio C. (Olga) Garza, Roberto C. (Maggie) Garza, Jose Luis C. Garza, Jose Angel C. (Janet) Garza, and Melecio Garza, Jr, three sisters: Rosalinda C. (Rogelio) Chapa, Gloria Ana C. (Juan) Trevino, and Katy C. Patwary, six grandchildren: Justin M. Perez (Keellie Garibay), Allen R. Valdez (Christina Villareal), Kevin M. Perez (Kiana Garza), Selena M. Barrera, Nicole Barrera, and Allison R. Valdez. Three great grandchildren: Aleya M. Lopez, Ariel Lopez, Jr., Adalynn R. Valdez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Active Pallbearer: Wally Perez, Justin M. Perez, Allen R. Valdez, Kevin M. Perez, Melecio Garza, Jr., and Rey Canales. Visitation will begin on Thursday April 13, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Mauro P Garcia Funeral Home Chapel- San Diego with a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. Funeral mass to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church. Military Graveside Services conducted by the United Veterans Burial Association followed by Burial at San Diego Cemetery. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes Inc. entrusted with arrangements.
