Lydia Rodriguez Benavides left this earth to be with the Lord on the afternoon of July 29, 2019 in Baytown, TX after battles with breast cancer, colon cancer, and other gradual health problems. She was surrounded by her family to her last days. Lydia was born on February 3, 1944 in Laredo, Texas, and was raised in Benavides, Texas along with five sisters and three brothers. After marrying her husband, Carlos Benavides in 1968, she moved to several other towns before spending the remainder of her life in Baytown, Texas where she raised her two sons Carlos Jr. and Flavio. Lydia spent most of her life lovingly caring for other family members. She was known to be shy, but a very dedicated mother. She loved God and her family very much and showed by taking two-mile walks to church every Sunday, or to take her boys fishing. Lydia was compassionate, kind, forgiving, considerate, respectful, friendly, but most of all loved God, and she instilled those same values when raising her sons. Despite health issues, Lydia enjoyed visiting family members in Alice, TX, San Diego, TX and Benavides, TX. She loved holding babies, looking at cute pictures of animals, and loved cake. She was proceeded in death by father, Luis Rodriguez, mother, Alicia Benavides Rodriguez, brothers, Flavio, Oscar and Joe Rodriguez, and sisters, Velia, baby Virginia and Helena Rodriguez. Lydia was survived by her husband, Carlos Sr., sons Carlos Jr. And Flavio Benavides, and sisters, Mary Smithwick, Elma Muehe, Virginia Pedez. Visitation will begin on Friday August 16, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral of Alice 600 So. wright St. Alice, Texas , with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. that same evening.. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday August 17, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Services will conclude after the Funeral Mass. Mauro P.
