Alice, Texas - Lily V. Chapa, 86 years old, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023, in Alice, TX after a short illness. Lily was surrounded by her loving family in her son's home. She retired from AISD as a Food Service Manager for many years. She enjoyed baking, embroidering, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Lily was a devoted Catholic parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the Padre Pio organization, Altar and Rosary Society. She was preceded in death by her parents Isidro and Candelaria Robles Vela, her husband, Roman Chapa, Jr, one son, Reymundo Chapa, Sr, one infant daughter, Lily Chapa, one great-grandson, Dante Gabriel Rodriguez, one brother, Jesus Vela, two sisters, Beatrice Vela (Rafael) Escobar and Maria Vela (Gilbert) Vera. She is survived by her two sons, Roel (Sarah Smithwick) Chapa, and Michael (Christy) Chapa, two daughters, Anna (Roman) Rodriguez, and Josie Gagnon, one daughter-in-law, Idolina (Dolly) Chapa, two brothers, Isidro (Sandra) Vela, Jr., and David (Tanya) Vela, one sister, Raquel Vela (Coronado †) Castillo. Eighteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews. Active Pallbearers: Reymundo Chapa Jr., Mark Escamilla, Roy Louis Chapa, Austin Mabie, Austin Chapa, and Aiden Leal. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023, from 8 a.m. - 9 a.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 9 a.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home - Alice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial at the Old-Collins Cemetery in Alice, TX. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes Inc. is entrusted with arrangements.
