​Jose Maria “J.M.” Rodriguez, 73, years of age passed away at his home on October 6, 2022, after a short illness. J.M. loved his family and was a  fighting Vaquero Fan.  He was a devout Catholic and a parishioner at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. He was a great friend to many in the surrounding communities. J.M. was a Banker at several financial institutions, La Hacienda Saving and Loan, First State Bank of San Diego, and Gulf Coast Credit Union. He was a Liaison for Congressman Ciro Rodriguez. He held the position of Director for the Duval County Welfare Department, and he was also the Democrat chairman for Duval County.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Felipe and Regina Trevino Rodriguez, his wife Elma P. Diaz, brother Philip Rodriguez, sister Mary Rodriguez, and three brothers-in-law Jose L. Garcia, Damas Rodriguez, and Hector Campos. Survivors include two daughters Angela Rodriguez and Darlene Rangel, brother Catarino (Cynthia) Rodriguez, five sisters Linda J. Garcia, Gloria (Sergio) Hinojosa, Regina Rodriguez, Cynthia Saenz, and Consuelo Campos, grandchildren, Jon Markus Rodriguez, Rolando “Rolly” Rangel Jr., Reuben “Zeth” (Amy) Diaz, Regeana (Michael) Lomas, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 5 p.m. followed by a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that same evening at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. October 12, 2022, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church, and burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery. Mauro P.
