Palito Blanco Community- Jose I. Cadena, 94 years old passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at his residence after a long illness. He was a United States Army veteran having served during WWII. He was a retired farmer and rancher all his life. He loved playing his accordion and loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio and Antonia R. Cadena, his wife, Julia Dekok Cadena and four sons, Felix, Jesus, Jose and Thomas Cadena. He is survived by his six sons, Carlos Cadena of Palito Blanco Community, Ernesto (Katherine) Cadena of Rivera, Texas, David Cadena and Juan (Vanessa) Cadena both of Alice, Texas, Rodolfo (Lionicia) Cadena of Rivera, Texas and Michael (Zulema) Cadena of Palito Blanco Community and one daughter, Sofia Rodriguez of Green Acres, Texas, three brothers, Chano Cadena and Ernesto Cadena both of Alice, Texas and Raymundo (Beatrice) Cadena of Fort Worth, Texas and one sister, Raquel (Luis) Arredondo of Alice, Texas, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, visitation will be private. Rosary will be recited Friday, March 20, 2020 at 7 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in Alice, Texas. Funeral Service to be conducted on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home Chapel in Alice, Texas. Military Services will be conducted by the United Veteran's Burial Association of Alice, Texas and burial will follow at Garcia Cemetery at La Esperanza Ranch.
