John Andrew Lewis 94 years old (June 13, 1924) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 22, 2019. He is preceded in death by the love of his life and wife Elia Molina Lewis, his parents Andrew Clark and Higinia Lewis. His brothers: Clark Lewis, Andrew Clark Lewis, Richard Lee Lewis, Joseph Allen Lewis, Patsy Yeager Worsham (born Estela Lewis) He is survived by his children: Elia Lewis Charles, Estela Lewis, Amancio (Marcie) Gonzalez, Aida (Jesse) Rodriguez, Diana (Ernesto) Herrera, Mae (Bill) St. Amant, Romeo (Diana) Gonzales, San Juanita (Emmett Doherty) Gonzales, Jose M. Gonzalez and 23 grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. John Lewis was a World War II veteran. He was a Private First Class and served with Company F 161st Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman 745. His decorations include: Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star and an Asiatic-Pacific Theater ribbon with 1 Bronze Star. After his time in the service, John returned home and began working at the Buckhorn Drive-In which would later become Buckhorn Mini Storages. He retired at the age of 75 after 52 loyal and devoted years. Visitation will begin on Monday, March 25, 2019 from 5pm – 9pm at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego with a Rosary to be recited at 7pm that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at 10am at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in San Diego and Military Services will follow by the United Veteran’s Burial Association with burial to follow at the San Diego Cemetery #2, San Diego, TX. Active Pallbearers are: Amancio Gonzalez, Eric Balli, Alyssa Eliana Ramirez, J. Andrew Lewis, Gilbert Lewis and Jonathan Andrew Lewis. Mauro P. Garcia, Inc. entrusted with arrangements.

Estella and family. Sorry about John, he was such a wonderful person. Loyal, honest and very dedicated to his work here at Buckhorn Storage Co. I had the pleasure of working with him for many years. They don't make them like good John. GOD BLESS
