San Diego, Texas - Joel Rodriguez, 52 years old, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023, at his residence after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was a graduate of SDISD Class of 1990. Joel was a very hard-working man. He worked as a construction worker and a concrete finisher, he enjoyed hunting at the family ranch in La Rosita community, was an avid Dallas Cowboy Fan, loved doing yard work, and, most of all, spending time with his family and barbecuing for them. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anita Longoria Rodriguez, one son, Joseph Rodriguez, one granddaughter, Mireya Ana Cantu, and one brother, Luis Alberto Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife of 21 years of marriage, Roxanne E. Rodriguez, three sons; Jaime (Angie) Rodriguez, Joel Rodriguez, Jr., and Freddy (Teri) Martinez; three daughters; Heather Rodriguez, Victoria Martinez, and Veronica Martinez, his father; Jesus Rodriguez, Sr., his step-mother; Ida Rodriguez, father-in-law; Encarnacion Escamilla, mother-in-law; Rosalinda (Adolfo) Arroyos, four brothers; Jesus (Elisa) Rodriguez, Jr., Jonas (Rachel) Rodriguez, Jeremias Rodriguez, and Jonathon Rodriguez, three sisters, Susana (Omar) Lichtenberger, Sylvania (Adrian, Sr.) Perez and Ruth A. (Michael G.) Rodriguez. Twelve grandchildren; numerous nieces, and nephews.
Visitations will begin on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego, with a Prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral Service on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego. Burial to follow at Roberson-Collins Cemetery in Alice, Texas. Active Pallbearers: Freddy Martinez, Jayce Martinez, Heather Rodriguez, Jaime Rodriguez, Jonus Rodriguez, Jesus Rodriguez Jr., Roel Rodriguez, and John Moya Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc. is entrusted with arrangements.
