Idolina C Galvan, age 90, passed away March 19, 2022, in Alice, Texas. She was born February 1, 1932, in Benavides, Texas to parents Fidencio Canales and Celia Salinas Canales.
Idolina retired from the Benavides ISD after many years of devoted service. She was the matriarch of her loving family and enjoyed being with her family the most. Her culinary skills were exceptional, from making her famous "patas de marrano" tamales to her marinated venison steaks. Any meal she prepared was a tasty treat. Her passion in life was her constant diligent care for her son Jose Arnoldo "Nono" throughout her life. Even as her health was failing her primary concern was for Nono and not her own needs. One of her final wishes was for the family to care for Nono after her passing.
Idolina was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Humberto Galvan; son, Humberto Galvan Jr.; grandson, Michael Paul Flores; sibling, Maria Estella Canales; sibling, Celia Chapa. Idolina is survived by her children; Hermilo (Sylvia) Galvan of Benavides; Emilia (Leopoldo) Flores of San Antonio; Jose A Galvan of Benavides; Nora (Israel) Cavazos of Mission; sibling, Lucila (Roel) Sendejar
of Corpus Christi; 10 grandchildren; and 22 Great grandchildren.
