Gloria C. Hernandez

​​Benavides, Texas - Gloria C. Hernandez, our beloved mother, gained her wings on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at the age of 82, surrounded by her loving family. She retired from Benavides Independent School District where she was employed 32 years. She enjoyed the ranch life, the outdoors, crafting, painting, singing, drawing, laughing, and spending time with her family. Gloria had a warm beautiful heart. She was outgoing, kind, and always wore a smile on her face. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.  
 
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leopoldo Chapa, Sr. and Anita S. Chapa, her husband, Alfredo S. Hernandez, Jr., and brother, Leopoldo Chapa, Jr.
 
She is survived by her four sons and two daughters, Jose Alfredo Hernandez, Orlando Rene Hernandez, Celia “Sally”(Romeo) Ramirez, Carlos Manuel Hernandez, Eduardo Gerardo (Yesenia G.) Hernandez, and Gloria Anna (Oscar) Gonzalez; one sister, Elena (Eduardo) Garcia, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 
 
Active Pallbearers: Jose A., Orlando, Carlos Manuel, Eduardo, Romeo "R.J.", Carlos Leopoldo, Edward, and Oscar.
 
 
Visitation will begin on Monday, January 9, 2023, from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home Chapel in San Diego, Texas, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Benavides, Texas.  Burial to follow at the Benavides Cemetery.
