Francisco U. "Frank" Rodriguez Jr.

​Francisco U. " Frank" Rodriguez Jr. 56 years of age passed away on August 18, 2018.  Frank was a graduate of Alice High School  Class of 1980. He was an outstanding football player for the Alice Coyotes and wore his Jersey # 70 proudly. Frank was also recruited to play for the Corpus Christi Gulf Coast Raiders to raise money for scholarships.  Frank then continued his education in Funeral Directing and Embalming and graduated with Dual Certificates from the Commonwealth College in Houston, Texas in 1982. Frank then returned to Alice and begin his working career under the direction of James Holmgreen and  Dale Dupree at Holmgreen Mortuary for over 30 years. In 2003 Frank begin  to work for Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc. and was still employed as their Funeral Director and Embalmer. Frank also did work for the surrounding funeral homes and always assisted with monument work. He will forever be missed by his funeral home and monument colleagues. Frank was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, cousin, nephew and friend. He enjoyed the outdoors, the beach, NASCAR racing events, his ranch, playing the Lottery, was an avid Cowboys fan, and loved to party with his family and friends. 
His favorite saying was," Not to Worry".

Frank is preceded in death by his parents Francisco Rodriguez Sr. and Virginia Uribe Rodriguez, his step mother Estella Rodriguez, his paternal grandparents that raised him Geronimo and Enriqueta Lopez Rodriguez, his maternal grandparents Porfirio and Santos Uribe, his step son David Perez Jr., his step-son in law Devin Castillo.  Survivors include his wife Martha Balboa Rodriguez, of Orange Grove, son, Cisco (Clarisa) Rodriguez of Alice, step-son, Miguel Angel (Venessa) Perez of Orange Grove, daughters, Gina Rodriguez and Cassandra Rodriguez (Ruben Olivo) of Alice, step-daughters, Monica Castillo (Ken Skokan) of Orange Grove, Veronica (Eric) Hults of North Carolina, his sisters Norma (Jon) Anderson of Ft. Worth, Dolores (Charlie) Castor and Rosie (Robert) Casas of San Antonio, his aunt who raised him as a son Evangelina R. Hernandez of Alice,  the mother of his children Rachel Zarate of Alice, 20 grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Honorary pallbearers: Landon Rodriguez, Dale Dupree and all Funeral Directors. Active Pallbearers: Cisco Rodriguez, Calob Rodriguez, Miguel A. Perez, Mark Lee Anthony DeLeon Jr., Victor Pena and Rene Zarate.

Visitation will be held at 5:30 pm on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church (801 S. Reynolds) in Alice with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Visitation with the family will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday August 24, 2018 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home-Alice, (600 S. Wright St.) with the Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Services will conclude at the end of the mass. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes entrusted with the arrangements.
