Francisca Barrera

​San Diego, Texas - Francisca Barrera, 88 years old passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021, at her granddaughter’s residence after a sudden illness. Francisca was a homemaker, who enjoyed cooking, gambling, music and especially spending time with family. She was known to many as Panchita and was an amazing and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents Sixto Torres and Concepcion Salas, her husband Armando P. Barrera, one son Daniel "Danny" Barrera, one grandson Armando Barrera, one great-grandson Luciano Ruvalcaba III, two sisters Emilia Aguillon and Rosa S. Guerra, four brothers Pablo Torres, Domingo Torres, Alfredo Torres, and Aurelio Torres. She is survived by her five sons Jose Oscar Barrera Sr., Roberto Barrera Sr., Isaac (Rachel) Barrera Sr., Hector (Belinda) Barrera Sr., and raised as a son Christopher R. Briones, four daughters Amelia Ramon, Lydia Chapa, raised as daughters Esmeralda (Felipe Trevino) Barrera, and Monica (Jose) Moreno, one brother Jimmy Torres, one sister Juanita Sanchez, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Serving as active pallbearers are Robert Barrera Jr., Joe Barrera, Isaac Barrera Jr., Ivan Barrera, Christopher Ryan Briones, Sammy Barrera, Steven Ramon, and Hector Barrera Jr.

Visitation will begin on Monday, September 20, 2021 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 1 p.m. at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church. Burial will follow at San Diego Cemetery. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes Inc. entrusted with arrangements.
