Florentino L. Rivera Sr. 79 years of age passed away on April 19, 2023, after a short illness in a San Antonio Hospital with his loving wife of 44 years Esperanza N. Rivera by his side. Florentino was a loving Father, Husband, Brother, Uncle, and Grandfather. Florentino was a part of the Texas National Guard in 1964 stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana. Florentino also worked for the city of Alice for over 25 years as a Director of Public works. He processed to work with JWC PCT 1. 1993-2000 then from 2000-2014 as JWC Safety Inspector. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus as he and his family went to church at Saint Joseph Catholic Church for many years. He is proceeded in death by his parents; Eduviges Rivera and Carolina River, sister; Isabel Rios, Brother; Manuel Rivera, children; Florentino Rivera, Jr., and Alfonso Ruiz, and grandchildren; Daisy Rivera, and Amanda Ruiz. He is survived by sisters; Maria (Ysmael) Olivarez, Mary Rivera, Carolina (Frank) Rivera, Consuelo (Manuel) Escamilla, and Christina (Freddie) Mendietta. Brothers; Eduviges Rivera, Audon (Jesusa) Rivera, Augustin (Velma) Rivera, and Israel (Diana) Rivera. Children; Elma Rivera, Terry Godinez, Priscilla Dailey, Aurora Flores, Christina (Arturo) Garza, Gabriel Rivera, and Frank Garcia, grandchildren; Lori (Joel) Arredondo, Linda Mora, Jessica Flores, Joey (Angel) Gonzalez, Daniel (Valory) Gonzalez, Christopher (Yvonne) Gonzalez, Leeann Godinez, Anne (Victor) Cornejo, Danny (April ) Godinez, Esperanza Godinez, Frank Godinez, Aaron Rivera, Anthony Rivera, Marissa Rivera, Florentino Rivera III, Chantel King, Jacob King, Orion Rivera, Gabriella Rivera, Frankie Garcia, Jackie Garcia, Omar Chapa, Laura (Leo) Gonzalez, and Mando (Becky) Ruiz, and many numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Memorial Service: Saturday May 13, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home Chapel – Alice Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes Inc. entrusted with arrangements.

Esperanza, I wish my deepest heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Flo was a very dear dear Man, who was extremely knowledgeable about so many things, and always willing to help others. I loved working beside him, and learning from him. He will be truly missed.

I worked with Florentino for a few years. He was a nice, respectable man. Always worked hard, treated everyone so kindly. My condolences to the family, he will be missed. RIP Flo.
