Fidencio G. Hinojosa

Fidencio G. Hinojosa Sr., age 94, entered eternal rest August 4, 2023 in Alice, Texas at his home. He was born October 8, 1928 in Alice, Texas to Florencio and Aurora Hinojosa. Fidencio worked as a master painter for the company he owned, Hinojosa’s Painting Services. His love for his craft showed in his dedication to his work and lived on in all those he taught to paint as well. 

Fidencio enjoyed cooking family dinners with his wife of 72 years, Teodora M. Hinojosa. He instilled his love for learning and history to all his children and grandchildren, and often sat down with them to recount stories of his childhood and growing up between Mexico and South Texas. He loved spending quality time with his family, and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. He often would say that visits from his grandchildren were like his “vitamins”. He will be remembered for his unconditional love for his family, his mild-mannered disposition, and his deep devotion for his wife. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Florencio and Aurora; mother-in-law Paula Magana; father-in-law, Teodoro Magana; siblings Guadalupe Hinojosa, Florencio G. Hinojosa, Victoria G. Hinojosa, and Perla Hinojosa.

Fidencio is survived by his wife Teodora M. Hinojosa; his 4 children Aurora H. Clegg, Paula H. Garcia, Fidencio Hinojosa II (Imelda), and Francisco ‘Frank’ Hinojosa (Deborah); two brothers; Servando G. (Petra) Hinojosa and Octavio G. (Esperanza) Hinojosa; grandchildren Crystal Garcia, Fidencio Hinojosa III, Amanda Clegg, Marleen Chavez (Manuel), Bethany Santillan (Miguel), Jacqueline Hinojosa, Franklin Hinojosa and Nicholas Hinojosa; great-grandchildren Victoria Garza, Austin Garza, Jacklyn Garza, Alejandro Garza, Isaiah Santillan, Kindall Hinojosa, Eric Isaiah Macias, Owen Chavez, Christian Santillan, Kennedy Chavez, and Alexandra Santillan; great-great grandchild Braylon Scipio, and many numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday August 10, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral home - Alice located at 600 South Wright St Alice, TX, 361-664-6041, with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 801 South Reynolds Alice, Tx 78332 on Friday August 11, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at New Collins Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Fidencio Hinojosa III, Amanda Clegg, Franklin Hinojosa, Nicholas Hinojosa, Alejandro Garza, and Miguel Santillan.
