San Diego, Texas: Elma P. Diaz was called home by her heavenly father on July 16, 2020 at the age of 73. Elma was a 1969 Graduate of San Diego High School. During her high school years she was proud of being a twirler for the San Diego Blue and Gold Band. After her graduation she attended college and earned her CNA certificate. Elma proudly went to work for Mr. James Baker at La Hacienda Nursing home in San Diego, Texas. Where she dedicated her life to her patients for over 30 years, until she retired in 2008. There was always a smile, a witty personality, a joke, and a very special characteristic in her to make people laugh. Elma had a passion for animals, especially Duke and Pumpkin. She loved her family, and loved her grandchildren unconditionally. She will be missed but not forgotten by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her biological parents, Leopoldo Perez, Maria Canales, raised by Higinio Perez, and by Maria "Nana" Perez, her brother, Leopoldo "Polo" Villarreal. She is survived by her husband J.M. Rodriguez, her daughters Angela Rodriguez and Darlene Rangel, sister Yolanda (Mando) Hinojosa, brother Leopoldo (Marissa) Perez Jr., her grandchildren Reuben "Zeth" (Amy) Diaz, Regeana (Michael) Lomas, Rolando "Rolly" Rangel Jr., Jon Markus Rodriguez, her great- grandchildren Lylah Lomas, Diego Lomas and Oliver Diaz, several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego with a Memorial Rosary scheduled for 12:30 p.m. that same day, followed by Memorial mass at 2:00 p.m. at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery. Due to Covid-19Pandemic we will follow all CDC and Government mandates. We ask everyone to follow the guidelines by social distancing and wearing masks inside the Funeral home and church. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes entrusted with the arrangements.

I was sorry about Elma’s passing. She was a member of the San Diego High School Class of 1965.
