Kingsville, Texas – Diana E. Garcia, 88 years old passed away on March 7, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Diana was born on March 14, 1935, to Ester & Mauro Garcia. She attended San Diego High School and graduated May of 1953. Diana went on to work and retired with The United States Department of Agriculture after 35 years. She then worked as an administrative clerk with Texas A&I University Kingsville for 15 years. There she met her dear friend Janine Livingston where they were season ticket holders to the Javelinas football team. Diana was a woman of faith, a loving daughter, sister, godmother, and aunt. She lived a life of remarkable generosity and compassion, touching the hearts of everyone she met. She took pride in her home, garden, and her health. Diana’s passion included sewing, baking, singing in the church choir, bowling (competing in state and national level), gambling trips, and rescuing animals. Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Ester and Mauro Garcia, half-sister Melody Garcia, sister, Celia Garcia, and two brothers, Octavio ‘Tavo” Garcia, and Humberto ”La Rata” Garcia, sister-in-law, Jacqueline Marshall Garcia, nephew, Steven James Garcia, and great nephew Saul Aaron Santos. She is survived by nieces, Teresa Garcia Padilla of San Benito, Texas, Christine (Roy) Santos of San Diego, Texas, Michelle (Raymond) Mendez of McAllen, Texas, Vanessa (Mark) Johnson of Thailand, nephew, David (Gloria) Garcia of San Diego, Texas, and sister-in-law, Renati C. Garcia of McAllen, Texas. As you rest in peace know that you have left behind a legacy of love, simplicity, and profound wisdom. You were the aunt in name, a mother to us, mentor, and a lifelong friend in spirit. Thank you for the lessons, the love, and the simple but incredibly beautiful memories. Diana’s life was one of selfless service and profound kindness, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of her family and friends. To our wonderful Altus Hospice team, our family will be forever grateful for your loving care, kindness and concern for our dear Aunt Diana and our family. Your attention and anticipation of our aunt’s needs greatly assisted her peaceful transition and gave comfort to all of us. Rest in peace, Aunt Diana. A rosary to honor Diana E. Garcia will be held on Tuesday March 26, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home San Diego followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Frances de Paula Catholic Church in San Diego. Burial to follow at San Diego Cemetery in San Diego. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
