Consuelo G. Gamez

Orange Grove, Texas - Consuelo G. Gamez, 92 years old, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023, in an Alice, Texas, Nursing Home. After a short illness. In her younger years, she used to help her father with his fieldwork, along with assisting her mother in raising her younger siblings. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her family. She was very well known as "Mrs. Gamez, the Tamale Lady." Her family was the deepest loves of her life. She was a loving and caring person who always saw the good in people. Consuelo was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Gorgonia Cantu, her husband, Eduardo Gamez, Jr., and one son, Jose Omar Gamez.

She is survived by a son, Eduardo (Raquel) Games, III., two daughters, Hilda (Humberto) Lopez and Luz M. (Erasmo) Paiz, three sisters, Elma (J.D.) Moye, Maria Zwierlien, and Amy Gonzales, 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in Alice. Located at 600 South Wright St. Alice, Texas, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Orange Grove, Texas. Burial will follow at St. John of the Cross Catholic Cemetery.  Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc. entrusted with the arrangements.
