San Diego, Texas – Charles A. Ross, 50, passed away after a brief illness, surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 11, 2022. He is survived by his Love and Soulmate Kelly Philbrook; his mother, Raquel Ross; his brother Robert Ross (Delores Soliz); his sister SueMarie Coon (Chad Coon); his nieces Brandilynn Ross & Amber Ross, Brittany Harris (Cody Harris), Kimber Coon, and his nephews Aidan Ross, Zachary Hale, Nicholas Hale, Chase Coon (Stacy Coon) & Cameron Coon along with numerous cousins and extended family, and friends. Son of the late Robert K. Ross Sr., Charles was born in Wichita Falls and was raised in San Diego, Tx. He was a graduate of San Diego High School, Class of 1989, and went on to begin a career in the United States Air Force where he served 20 years. Being stationed both stateside and abroad, he formed friendships with everyone he met. After retiring from the Air Force, he went to work at CA Jackson and then received his degree from Coastal Bend College. He became an instructor at Coastal Bend College teaching Welding and later, Computer Technology. Charles retired for good in 2021 to spend more time with family and to take some time for himself. He enjoyed gun collecting, welding, working at the ranch, and occasional gaming with his small group of friends online. More than anything, he enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. He was an extremely generous person with the biggest heart and most genuine, caring soul. If you knew him, you knew. He lived a peaceful life and loved just being there for those around him. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. that same morning. Burial service will follow in the afternoon at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
