San Diego, Texas - Carlos J. Montemayor, Jr., 89 years old, passed away peacefully Friday, February 3, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Carlos was born in Pleasanton, Texas, to Carlos and Dominga Montemayor. He was brought to San Diego as a toddler, where his parents settled with their family. He graduated from San Diego High School in 1952 and later served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. When he returned back home, he married the love of his life, Maria H. Lopez. They were married for 65 years. Together they had three children. Carlos served his community for over 40 years in different capacities. He was a member of the Rotary Club for over 40 years, an accomplishment that he was extremely proud of. He loved hunting and was an accomplished rancher. Carlos loved his family and treasured his friends. He will be greatly missed. He is now reunited with his parents, Carlos and Dominga Montemayor, his daughter Ann Liza Waldrop, two brothers, Adolfo, and Ruben Montemayor, and three sisters, Zenaida Montemayor, Margarita Vela, and Irma Montemayor. He is survived by his wife, Maria H. "Minnie" Montemayor; two sons, Carlos Rene Montemayor and Arnoldo (Tina) Montemayor; one brother, Jerry (Sherry) Montemayor; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, and nephews. The Montemayor Family would like to Thank Martha Flores for taking care of him and the Santa Fe nurses, and everyone who helped till the end. Active Pallbearers: Carlos R Montemayor, Carlos R Montemayor Jr., Arnoldo Montemayor Rey Garza, Aidan Garza, John Garza, Ian Montemayor, Andres Lopez Visitations will begin on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home Chapel in San Diego, with a Rosary to be recited that morning followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in San Diego. Burial to follow at the San Diego Cemetery # 2 in San Diego with the Military services conducted by the United Veterans Burial Association. Mauro P. My sincere condolences on your loss. I feel such a sadness at his passing. I always stopped by to see him whenever I was in San Diego and always received the warmest of welcomes. He will be missed. Again, I am so sorry. Prayers are going up for all of the family.
