La Rosita, Texas – Benita T. Martinez, 90 years old passed away, Saturday March 12, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Benita was a former employee of SDISD, and a former Juvenile Probation Assistant, she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Guadalupanas Mariachis, St. Francis de Paula Choir, and was a parishioner for St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is Preceded in death by her parents, Francisco Trigo Sr., and Gettudes Valerio Trigo, her husband Alejandro L. “Cano” Martinez, son Jose Maria “Chemita” Martinez, grandson Alexis Martinez, three granddaughters Clarissa Martinez, San Juanita Martinez, Maysa Martinez and brothers and sisters. She is survived by her six sons, Alejandro (Sylvia) Martinez Jr. of Freer, Texas; Francisco (Catherine) Martinez of La Rosita, Texas; Albert T. Martinez of San Diego, Texas; Humberto (Patricia) Martinez of La Rosita, Texas; Roberto (Rachel Aguilar) Martinez of La Rosita, Texas; Gilberto Martinez of Austin, Texas; seven daughters, Bertha C. (Mike) Young of Corpus Christi, Texas; Sylvia Martinez (Carlos Gutierrez) of La Rosita, Texas; Dora L. Casas of La Rosita, Texas; Dalia (Paul) Miller of Corpus Christi, Texas; Sandra (Pino) Cano of Freer, Texas; Donna Martinez of San Antonio, Texas; Diana Martinez Palacios of Freer, Texas; three sisters, Juanita Saenz of San Diego, Texas; Maricella Montemayor of San Antonio, Texas; Amalia Trejo of Amargozo Community, Alice, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the San Diego Civic Center, with a Rosary to be recited that same evening at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. Burial to follow at the Chula Vista Cemetery in La Rosita, Texas. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes Inc. entrusted with the arrangements.
