San Diego, Texas - Armando P. Barrera, 88 years old passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021, in an Alice hospital after a sudden illness. He was a retired construction worker, and a Duval County foreman for Precinct #2. He enjoyed going to the ranch and working on his tractor and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents Jose Maria Barrera, and Maria Perez Barrera, one son Daniel "Danny" Barrera, one grandson Armando Barrera, one great-grandson Luciano Ruvalcaba III, three sisters Emma Munoz, Diana Torres, and Viola Barrera. He is survived by his wife of 70 years of marriage Francisca T. Barrera, four sons Jose Oscar Barrera Sr., Roberto Barrera Sr., Isaac (Rachel) Barrera Sr., Hector (Belinda) Barrera Sr., raised as a son Christopher R. Briones, two daughters Amelia Ramon, Lydia Chapa, raised as daughters Esmeralda (Felipe Trevino) Barrera, and Monica (Jose) Moreno, two brothers Abel (Bernardina) Barrera Sr., George (Debra) Barrera, two sisters Olga (Julio) Garza, Estella Vasquez, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Serving as active pallbearers are Robert Barrera Jr., Joe Barrera, Isaac Barrera Jr., Ivan Barrera, Christopher Ryan Briones, Miguel Resendez, Steven Ramon, and Hector Barrera Jr. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church. Burial will follow at San Diego Cemetery. Mauro P.
