Angelina "Gile" Garcia from San Diego, Texas was called to be with Our Lord on January 6, 2017. She passed away due to complications from pneumonia in Houston, Texas. She was surrounded with endless love from her family and will be greatly missed on this Earth. Gile is preceded in passing by her husband, J.S. (Checo) Garcia, her son, Checo Garcia, Jr, her brother, Arnoldo Ramirez, her parents, Pedro and Thelma (Garcia) Ramirez, sister in law Maggie Ramirez, and brother in law Alfredo Herrera. She is survived by her daughters, Selina (John) Scheid, Sonya (Nelson) Ferries, Suzette (Robert) Tovar, Syda (Neil) Flores, her son, Saul Daniel Garcia, her siblings, Aida Herrera, Ronnie (Sylvia) Ramirez, Oscar (Josie) Ramirez, Thelma (Abelardo) Garza, many beloved nieces and nephews, her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren and sister in law Diana Ramirez. Gile was born in San Diego, Texas on September 28, 1936. Her family moved to Alice, Texas when she was a young girl. In High School, Gile was a cheerleader for the Alice Coyotes. Her magnetic personality attracted many friends and acquaintances. She married Checo when she was just 18 years old. They moved to San Diego where they started a family and engrained themselves into the community. She stayed at home to raise her children, then worked for her brother in law. She moved to Houston in 2008. She loved to sew and was an excellent cook. Her home was always impeccably kept. Her beauty, style and sense of fashion caught everyone’s eye and was a presence everywhere she went. She was a cancer survivor. Her strength and courage were admired by many. She was a great mother, sister, daughter and excellent friend. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at St. Frances de Paula Catholic Church and burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery. Mauro P.
