Alice, TX/Poplar Bluff, MO. – Andres (Andy) Arturo Mendez born in Alice, Texas, and lived in Poplar Bluff, Mo. and of Catholic Faith, went home to his Heavenly Father on January 2nd, 2023, at the age of 57. Andy’s passing was unexpected, and his family and friends are trying to process this tragedy. Andy is preceded in death by his father Feliciano Mendez Jr. and his uncle Manuel (Meme) Almaraz Jr. Andy is survived by his wife Kathy Mendez, married December 22, 2011, his mother Patsy (Almaraz) Mendez, Five Children, and their spouses: Crystal (Daniel Spalding) Kent; Elias (Shannon) Mendez; Katelan (Ryan) Haas; Travis (Valarie) Ware; and Kailee (Marshall) Silcox. Survived also by his siblings, Ursula (Mendez) (Jim) DeCesare, Vincent Mendez; his 14 grandchildren; Noah Kent, Merci Kent, Raymond Spalding, Victoria Spalding, Tristan Mendez, Abigail Mendez, Liam Hass, Jameson Haas, Amelia Haas, Emily Morrow, Joshua Morrow, Henry Ware, Jamielee Ware, and Brailynn Silcox, two aunts, Irene (Presentacion (Pres) Saenz and Edna and Doug Ramsey, several nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as an abundance of family and military friends who miss him dearly. Born in Alice, Texas on June 21st. 1965. Though Born in Alice, TX. Andy was blessed to be raised in many different states including Texas, Michigan, Indiana, Kansas, Tennessee, and Missouri. Andy loved his family and was proud of them and his accomplishments. At age 39 Andy joined the Missouri National Guard. During his 18 years of service with the Guard, he was deployed to Afghanistan, assisted with multiple SED’s, instructed numerous classes, and was honored to be a military brother and friend to many. He achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class. You could find him enjoying time with his family, playing golf and poker, riding his Harley, telling jokes, and playing with his two fur babies, Mija and Marlee. Visitation will begin on Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 am. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home-Chapel- San Diego, Tx., Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. the same morning. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery with Military graveside services conducted by the United Veterans Burial Association. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc. entrusted with the arrangements.

I am so sorry he made me laugh when I would see him. Vince and Ursula and Mrs pat I have yall in my prayers... I hope yall find strength in each other to cope with this loss.
