Amelia B. Garza

San Diego, Texas - Amelia B. Garza, 74 years old, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022, in a Corpus Christi hospital, after a short illness. Amelia was a Texas A&I University graduate of 1984. She was a school teacher at SDISD for over 35 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. She will be sadly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents, Matias C. Briones and Maria Luisa Alvarado, a son Frank Garza, two brothers, Gilberto Briones, and  Matias Briones Jr., two sisters, Leticia Briones and Modesta Arredondo. She is survived by her son Michael (Laura) Garza of San Diego, five brothers, Hector (Priscilla) Briones, Juan (Irma) Briones, Frank (Maria) Briones, Roel Briones, and Robert (Lupita) Briones, two sisters, Olga (Pancho) Gonzalez, and Johanna Briones, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Active Pallbearers will be Joseph Garza, Miguel Garza, Luis Briones, Javier Briones, Juan Briones, and Hector Briones. Honorary Pallbearer will be Frank Briones. 

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at  Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home Chapel in San Diego, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
