Salvador Luna, 82 years old, passed away Friday, July 12, 2024, in his hometown of San Diego. He was born on June 18, 1942, in San Diego, Texas. Salvador was a heavy equipment operator by occupation, but his favorite was the backhoe. Throughout his years it was known to call Bave if you needed a field cleared or a hole excavated. He and his brother, Rico, would help anyone who needed it, but mostly it was because they had fun doing it and they wanted an excuse to get everyone together and hang out. Salvador also liked camping, fishing, BBQing and the Dallas Cowboys. Mostly, he enjoyed it when his family gathered around him. He was a quiet man, but you could always tell by the way he looked that he loved sitting and watching everyone just enjoy each other. Salvador was loved by all and will be sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife; San Juana Salas Luna, his parents; Juan Jose, Policarpia Luna, his siblings; Juan Manuel Luna, Ricardo Luna Sr., Guadalupe Saenz and Fela Garza. He is also preceded in death by in laws; Anastacio Torres Sr, Felicita Luna, Magdalena Luna, Jesus Trevino, Ramiro Saenz, Juan Garza and a son in law Rene Rivera. Salvador is survived by his children; Domingo Salas Jr. (Irma) of Corpus Christi, Salvador Luna Jr. (Renay) of Houston, Luis Rene Luna (Laura) of San Diego and Belinda Luna Rivera, of San Diego. His siblings; Rosa Torres of Killeen, Rufino Luna Sr, of San Diego and Margarita Trevino of Houston, His surviving in laws; Beatrice Luna of San Diego, Margarita Perez of San Diego, Felipe Escutia of Illinois and Juan Salas of San Diego along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Active Pallbearers; Salvador Luna Jr., John Michael Luna, Jon Isaac Gonzalez, Luis Rene Luna Jr., Christopher Rivera and Mark Perez. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home- San Diego. I have fond memories of my cousin Bave as we called him. Bave would come over to play marbles with my brother Macedonio and just hang out with his cousins Sonny Alex and Adrian Amaya.
