In loving memory of Ruben Munoz, October 31, 1963 – December 5, 2024. It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ruben Munoz, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, boss, and friend who served as a beacon of kindness and strength to all who knew him. He left this world on December 5, 2024, at the age of 61, surrounded by love and the legacy of a well-lived life. Born October 31, 1963, and raised in Freer, TX, Ruben first displayed compassion, hard work and humor that would define his entire life. He gave generously of his time and wisdom to his beloved family and countless others, fortunate enough to cross his path. Ruben’s truest pride and joy was family. As a father, grandfather, uncle, and brother, he inspired with quiet strength, endless support, and unconditional love. From cheering on the sidelines to offering advice on a simple phone call. Ruben was always willing to mentor, support, and share wisdom, sometimes strongly, but always with love. His professional dedication as an Oilfield Construction professional mirrored his personal life’s passion for integrity and dedication. From humble beginnings as a Backhoe operator to capitalizing on several entrepreneurial opportunities, Ruben earned a tremendous professional reputation across South Texas and numerous friendships along the way.
Ruben is survived by his children, Dian (JR) Munoz-Ramirez and Austin (Mary) Munoz; siblings Ramiro Munoz, Sylvestre Munoz, and Clara (Octavio Guajardo) Utley; Companion Rosalva Campos and her children Jose Campos, Karissa (Ramon Maldonado) Campos, and Roel (Genesis) Campos II; grandchildren Tori Gomez, Heidi Munoz, Steven Muldrow, Kyrsten Cooper, Levi Maldonado, Lewis Maldonado, Xiomara Campos, Roel Campos III, and Remi Campos. Ruben is reunited with his parents Ramiro and Delia Munoz, twin brother Roland Munoz, and niece Amanda Munoz. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in honor of the Ruben Munoz Scholarship Fund. Though he is no longer with us, Ruben’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who loved him. “Forever in Our Hearts”. May he rest in peace. Visitation will begin on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home – San Diego. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in San Diego. Burial to follow at San Diego Cemetery #2. Arrangements entrusted to Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc.

RIP Ruben! My condolences to all of Ruben’s family and friends. He was a great man! This post speaks to exactly like the man I knew. He opened a lot of doors for me with his company and a lot of other companies that I probably couldn’t get into with such ease, and he did it with no hesitation and no expectation of a returned favor. I have great admiration for this guy ! God hold his family in this time of grief !

Sending my heartfelt condolences to the family. He was one of a kind and always had a smile on his face whenever I ran into him which was not often as I moved away from Freer as soon as I graduated high school. May he Rest in Peace.
