Roberto J. Couling, 75 years of age, passed away on August 23, 2026.

Roberto was born on August 1, 1951, in San Diego, Texas, to Felicitas Couling Perez. He was raised in La Rosita, Texas, alongside his brothers, where he grew up enjoying the ranch life that remained a special part of who he was.

Roberto proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he honorably served his country for four years and achieved the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, he worked several jobs before beginning his career with Kansas City Southern, formerly known as the Tex-Mex Railway, where he dedicated many years of service.

Roberto was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life. You could often find him fishing, golfing, metal detecting, scratching his lottery tickets, or cheering on his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys—“America’s Team.” Above all, his greatest joy came from spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. The memories made with those he loved will forever be treasured.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Teresa Diana Couling; his mother, Felicitas Couling Perez and stepfather, Tomas Perez; and his brothers, Richard D. Martin and Ruben Perez.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Teresa Diana Aguilera (Jesse); his sons, Roel Ramiro Vasquez, Rene Couling (Johanna), Roberto Couling Jr., and Ronnie Felix Couling; his brother, Rudolfo Couling (Grace); and his brothers-in-law, Ricardo Perales (Gracie) and Carlos “Chale Dog” Perales (Alma).

Roberto was also blessed with eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who brought tremendous joy and pride to his life.

Roberto will be remembered for his love of family, his proud service to his country, his hardworking spirit, and the many good times shared with family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed, but the stories, laughter, and memories he leaves behind will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
