San Diego, Texas - Roberto C. Garza Sr. passed away suddenly on May 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence
brought strength, laughter, and comfort to those who knew him.

Robert spent his life working as a mechanic, dedicating himself to hard work and providing for his family. He was happiest in his garage — fixing things with his hands, watching television, and enjoying a cold Lone Star beer. It was there that many memories were made, stories were shared, and laughter echoed through the years.

He leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Maggie Garza, with whom he built a beautiful life centered around love and family. He is also survived by his children: Robert Garza Jr., Daniel (Rachael) Garza, Maricela (Ronald) Paz, and Ana Lisa (Raul Jr.) Garza.

Roberto was a proud and loving grandfather to Daniel C. Garza, Matthew C. Garza, Abraham Paz III, Gabriel Noe Hernandez, and Raul Sabastian Lopez, all of whom brought immense joy and pride into his life.

Roberto was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Catarina Garza and Manuel Garza; his brothers, Manuel Garza Jr., Jesse Garza, Ruben Garza, Ricardo Garza, Noe Garza, and Melecio Garza; and his sister, Antonia Trevino.

He is also survived by his brothers Julio (Olga) Garza, Jose Luis Garza, Jose Angel (Janet) Garza, and Melecio Garza Jr.; his sisters Rosa (Rogelio) Chapa, Gloriana (Juan) Trevino, and Katy Patwary; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He will be remembered for his quiet strength, hardworking spirit, unwavering love for his family, and the simple joys that made him who he was. Though he may no longer be with us physically, the love and memories he gave so freely will remain in our hearts forever.

There will be no services at this time.

“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.”

The one time I met Mr Garza was in 1988 and he left a lasting impression on me. I had gone to his shop for a car repair and all I did was laugh from all the jokes he had. Rest in peace Mr Garza and my deepest condolences to the family and friends.
