Juan Arnulfo Casso Sr., of San Diego, Texas, was called to his eternal resting presence with the Lord on September 11, 2025, at the age of 83 years, at his residence in San Diego after a short illness. He was born on December 9, 1941, to Arnulfo Casso and Beatrice Luera Alaniz. He was raised by his father. As a young boy, he was introduced to farming and ranch work. As he grew up, he became more independent and ventured on his own, but with close ties to his family and friends.
In his early years, he worked as a mechanic for Frito-Lay Company in Alice, Texas. Years later, he also worked as the Motor Man for Dixie Fields Oilfield Company and other Drilling Rig organizations as long as he could. Being a resourceful and skilled mechanic, he decided to work with his Father-In-Law at Gonzales Paving for a few years. Then, he devoted his life to ranching and farming in the San Diego surrounding area. He was a man of many skills and enjoyed raising Game Chickens and Roosters. This was his hobby and craft in establishing some of the best breeds money could buy and sell. After a life of many physical challenges, he had come to his tender years of life, reflecting on his children and family. He worked hard to secure the future well-being of his devoted wife and children, so that when the time would come for his departure from this world, he could be remembered as a loving father, husband, grandparent, and friend. He was not much for words or long-term conversations, but his actions spoke louder. He had great pride in what he had achieved over his lifetime. The other part of his time was spent studying herbal medicine on his own. After decades of prayer, Juan Arnulfo Casso Sr. accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Baptism was in discussion and to be held at his residence. That day didn’t come. However, we are reminded and comforted in the words of Christ when he mentioned to the thief on the right, “Today you will be with me in paradise, “And Jesus said to him, Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise - Luke 23:43; It took him some time to grow his faith, but he was firm in confessing, “If it were not for the Lord, his life would have been a different outcome!” He wasn’t perfect, nor did he claim to be someone important. He had many flaws, but Jesus accepted him just as he was and cleansed his spirit and redeemed his soul, “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved – John 3:16-17.” He is preceded in death by his parents: Arnulfo Casso and Beatrice L. Alaniz, brothers: Seferino Contreras, Homero Contreras, Silverio Contreras, and sisters: Natividad Salinas and Porfiria Rodriguez, son: Juan Arnulfo Casso Jr., and grandson Juan Arnulfo Casso III, granddaughter: Angelica Casso. He is survived by his wife: Eloisa Gonzales Casso of San Diego, Tx., sons: Rev.
