' San Diego, Texas - Guadalupe Guerra Gonzalez was born on October 5, 1943, and passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on December 5, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones at his residence in San Diego, Texas. Guadalupe was affectionately known as “Ho” to his grandchildren; as “Lupe” and “Pay” to his family; and as “The Bluff” to anyone sitting at the poker table. Lupe’s first job was moving houses with M&M Trucking Service. He then worked for many years traveling as an interstate truck driver for Patterson Rental Tools. His Peterbilt kept him safe as he was providing for his beloved wife, Alicia, and their three daughters. After his time as a truck driver, Lupe worked with his dad (Allen) and brother (Andrew) at A&A Auto Glass and Paint. The highlight of his career was opening and operating 3G's Auto Glass until his retirement in 2007. After his retirement, he became the family babysitter. Guadalupe enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s academic and sports activities. In his golden years, he enjoyed napping, eating cookies, and relaxing on the sofa with his wife. His favorite sports teams were the Houston Texans and the Houston Astros. It was a family tradition to visit Houston every summer to go to Astroworld and attend an Astros game. Sometimes it was only the immediate family and at other times extended family and friends would go along as well. He enjoyed taking his wife gambling to Eagle Pass, Louisiana, and the casino boats. He liked watching sports and Sanford & Son on tv, painting yard decorations, listening to corridos on Sunday mornings, and reading the daily newspaper. Lupe was preceded in death by his parents, Leonor and Allen Lewis; his grandparents, David and Luz Guerra; and his in-laws, Ramon and Maxima Zapata. Guadalupe is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Alicia Gonzalez; his daughters, and sons-in-law, Yolanda and Samuel Bueno, Leticia and Rick Ruiz, Patty and Raul Gonzalez; his grandchildren; Maya and Luz Bueno, Andres, Marcos, and Emma Ruiz, Rianna and Raelyn Gonzalez; his bonus grandchildren, Xavier, Joslin and Amber Salaiz.; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Gilbert and Cynthia Lewis, Andrew and Mary Lou Lewis, and his sisters, Virginia Lewis and Vivian Lewis Caro. The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to Priscilla Carrillo, his provider of four years who was not only his caregiver but also a wonderful addition to the family. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 3:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas. Services will conclude that evening.
