San Diego, Texas - Florentino V. Chapa Jr. (Wero), 56 years of age, entered into eternal rest on October 5th, at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital from a sudden illness, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on March 2, 1968, to his parents, Zulema and Florentino Chapa. He was always the life of the party and was very outgoing with the biggest heart. Anywhere he went, his presence was felt and he made friends anywhere he went. He will be remembered for always lending a helping hand and always checking in with his calls, text messages and voicemails. Florentino enjoyed spending time with family, watching the Dallas Cowboys, listening to rock music, watching westerns, and spending time with his dog. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Florentino is preceded in death by his daughter; Vilma Barrientez, brother-in-law; Enrique Garcia, brother; Raul Chapa, and his parents; Zulema and Florentino Chapa. He is survived by his loving children; Noel (Rosie) Barrientez, Veronica (Benny Alaniz) Barrientez, Annabel (Daniel Gonzalez) Barrientez, Michael (Alexis Lopez) Chapa, Alayna Chapa, son-in-law; Rene Diaz, grandchildren; Lindsay Alaniz, Abriana Everett, Ricco Diaz, Makenzie (Zork) Chapa, Daniella Gonzalez, Evan Gonzalez, Chloe Alaniz, Ryley Diaz, Isabella Gonzalez, Deliah Diaz, Benny Alaniz Jr., Cheyenne Barrientez, Charlotte Barrientez, Noah Barrientez, his sisters; Anna (Arturo) Garcia of Alice, Texas, Sylvia (Hector) Garcia of San Antonio, Texas, Irma (Robert) Rangel of Alice, Texas, and Nora Garcia of San Diego, Texas, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. We find comfort in knowing that Dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever. A special thanks to Sylvia & Hector Garcia, Jody & Noe Flores, Gina & Daniel Salinas and family for continuous support before and during his hospital stay. To all the doctors, nurses, all the staff at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital, Dora, and the TOSA organization, the family would like to extend sincere thanks and gratitude for the loving and compassionate care provided to our father and our family. Visitation will begin Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home-San Diego with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church- San Diego.
