Brigida F. Quintanilla, 91 years of age, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, service, and devotion to her family and community.

Brigida was born on August 19, 1935, in San Diego, Texas, to Julian Flores and Ignacia Alaniz Flores. Throughout her life, Brigida was known for her kind and giving heart and her willingness to care for others. She devoted much of her working life to helping those in need, serving as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), home health aide, and caregiver. Caring for others came naturally to Brigida, and her work reflected the compassion and generosity that were such an important part of who she was.

Above all, Brigida was a devoted homemaker who treasured her family. Her home and her heart were always open to those she loved. She found great joy in caring for her children and watching her family grow through the generations. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren brought tremendous happiness and pride to her life. The love, lessons, and memories she shared with them will remain an important part of her legacy for generations to come.

Brigida was also a giving and active member of the Skidmore community. She believed in helping others whenever she could and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

A devoted Catholic, Brigida's faith was an important foundation throughout her life. She placed her trust in God and carried her faith with her through life's joys as well as its challenges. Her devotion provided her with strength and comfort and served as an example to her family. Her loved ones now find peace in knowing that she has completed her earthly journey and has been reunited with those who went before her.

Brigida was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elpidio Quintanilla; her son, Juan Quintanilla; and her parents, Julian and Ignacia A. Flores.

Left to cherish her loving memory are her sons, Victor Quintanilla of Sinton, Texas, and Enrique Quintanilla of Corpus Christi, Texas; her daughters, Micaela (Ernesto Jr.) Garcia of Brady, Texas, and Esther (Michael) Lussier of Sinton, Texas; and her sisters, Esther Everett of San Diego, Texas, and Maria Elena Palacios of Benavides, Texas, numerous beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with her.

Active Pallbearers: Domingo Pena III, Travis Lussier, Troy Lussier, Kevin Lussier, Roman Villarreal, and Xavier Martinez.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home Chapel in San Diego, Texas, with a Rosary to be recited at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated that morning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. May Brigida's loving and giving spirit remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, and may she rest in eternal peace.
