Baldemar “Balde” Vasquez

Baldemar “Balde” Vasquez, 62, passed away Friday, August 7, 2026. He was a graduate of San Diego High School, Class of 1981.

Balde dedicated his life to hard work and providing for the family he loved so dearly. He was previously employed by T&T Crane & Rigging and was currently employed by LV Crane & Rigging as a crane operator. He was a man who believed in working hard, taking care of his family, and always making sure those he loved were provided for.

Balde enjoyed listening to his favorite ’80s rock music, spending time outdoors playing with his grandsons, and cooking barbecue for his family and friends. He found joy in the simple moments spent surrounded by the people he loved.

Balde was more than a husband, father, and grandfather. He was our rock, our provider, our protector, and the heart of our family. His strength, love, and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren, and the memories he created with them will be cherished forever.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vicente Vasquez.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 40 years, Lela Vasquez; two daughters, Vanessa Morin and Kristina (Britney) Vasquez; and his beloved grandchildren, Gabriel Morin, Jacob Morin, Kristian Hinojosa, Reylynn Hinojosa, and Jaylynn Hinojosa.

He is also survived by his mother, Estella Vasquez; siblings, Irma (Edmundo) Valdez, Vicente Vasquez, Jr., Angie (Roberto) Salaiz, Jose (Brenda) Vasquez, and Ricardo Tovar; mother-in-law, Estella (Antonio) Juarez; father-in-law, Santana Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Active Pallbearers: Ricardo Tovar, Jose Vasquez, Lupe Morin, Bryan Garcia, Roel Garcia, Mathew Salinas, Jose “Blue” Perez, and John Rudy Broquet.

Honorary Pallbearers: Gabriel Morin, Jacob Morin, and Kristian Hinojosa.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home – San Diego, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. Burial will follow at San Diego Cemetery No. 2.
