Alice, Texas – On May 18, 2025, Aurora Hinojosa Clegg entered eternal rest after losing her battle with cancer. She was born in Alice, Texas on May 17, 1952, to her parents, Fidencio G. Hinojosa Sr. (deceased) and Teodora Magaña Hinojosa.
Aurora graduated from William Adams High School in 1970. She then continued her education at Texas A&l University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. Later in her career she attended Texas A&M University in Kingsville, Texas where she attained two master's degrees: one in Counseling and another in Educational Administration. For more than 40 years Aurora worked in Alice sharing her love of science, math, home economics and computer literacy and technologies. Many times, her students came back years later and shared with her just how much they learned and enjoyed her class. Aurora enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her daughter and only grandchild Izzy, whom she adored. She also loved to play and spoil whenever possible her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In her spare time, she loved to work on her sewing, crochet and embroidery projects. She will be remembered fondly for her generous and loving heart as well as for her enthusiasm for life and making long lasting memories with her sister, especially in the kitchen. Aurora is preceded in death by her father, Fidencio G. Hinojosa Sr. She is survived by her mother, Teodora Magana Hinojosa; her daughter, Amanda J. Clegg; her grandson, Eric Isaiah (Izzy) Macias; her siblings, Paula H. Garcia; Fidencio M. Hinojosa II (Imelda), and Francisco M. (Frank) Hinojosa (Deborah), and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 801. South Reynolds St. in Alice, Texas. Burial to follow at New Collins Cemetery. Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, entrusted with arrangements.
