Concepcion- Roberto C. Cantu 83 years of age passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in a Kingsville hospital after a long illness. He was a United States Veteran having served in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea. He was a retired farmer and rancher in the Duval County area. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Anita C. Cantu, four brothers, Adan, Antonio, Jr., Leonel, Sr., and Hector Cantu, two sisters, Eva Canales and Estella Canales. Survived by his wife of 56 years of marriage, Josefa S. Cantu, Concepcion, Texas, one son, Roberto (Loretta) Cantu, Jr., Kingsville, Texas, one daughter, Rosa Anna Williams, San Antonio, Texas, one sister, Olivia Saenz, Realitos, Texas, two granddaughters, Samantha Nicole Cantu, Lubbock, Texas and Adriana Renee Williams, San Antonio, Texas numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 5:00 pm. - 9:00 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home-San Diego with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. the same evening. Orange Grove, Texas: Maria G. Vasquez 93 years old passed away on September 23, 2017 at her daughter's residence in Orange Grove, Texas after a long illness. Maria was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, embroidering, arts, crafts, cooking and baking. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and will sadly be missed by her family and friends. She was also a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Crucillistas at St. Peters Catholic Church in Ben Bolt. La Parrita, Texas: Leobardo “Leo” Rodriguez, age 88 of La Parrita passed away on Saturday September 16, 2017 at his home with his wife Connie by his side. He was born July 24, 1929 at the Shaeffer Ranch near La Parrita to Benino and Tomasa Rodriguez. Leo was as a rancher, farmer, and oilfield worker. He worked as a tool pusher for Murlynson Drilling Company for 29 years. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. Leo was known for teaching his oilfield knowledge and skills to his brothers, nephews and friends. He worked in West Texas and New Mexico for many years. He loved traveling with his wife and family. Leo’s pride and joy were his family, his ranch, his cattle and his dog Patrick. He moved to Dallas residing there for 20 years returning home 3 years ago after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s He will forever be remembered as the hard working man that he was. He was known for wheeling and dealing, selling something before he even paid for it and always making a profit. His legacy will be Leo’s Country Store, his famous burgers and the many memories he left behind.
